Shazaam was staged by David F. Sandberg and is about a little boy named Billy Batson, who is a foster child. He has a hard life behind him and when he meets a magical magician, he gains the ability to become an adult superhero, says the word Shazam. I was looking forward to this movie for a few reasons.
For one thing, the DC EU has been really great lately. I loved Wonder Woman. I really liked Aquaman and I’m also a big fan of David F. Sandberg, who staged the light and creation of Annabel. I like what he did to a horror genre, so I wondered what he was doing in a superhero Moviemaking, and I’m also a fan of the 1988 movie with Tom Hanks, and that looked like a superhero version of it and so, of course, that enticed me and Shazam is a really good time.
It’s a very funny movie. It’s much more of a comedy than I expected, because I’m not so familiar with the character and the backstory, but I knew enough to go in plus The Railer gave me the obvious feeling that this was a very carefree movie, who did not take himself too seriously. So it really comes from the perfect time in our admittedly oversaturated superhero market, and the endgame is definitely going to be very serious. The film’s nice to have a movie where you can sit back and just laugh and have a good chat. Zachary Levi is awesome because the adult version of Billy Batson embodies the spirit of a child who has never been harmed by anything.
All of life that suddenly has this amazing experience and opportunity to accomplish things he never expected to ever do and all the scenes with Zachary Levi is certainly the best parts of the movie he was honored in the film, as well as Jack Dillon grazier playing Freddie Freeman, his roommate in a nursing home, he plays a lot of the comedy in the movie and where this could be a big risk, because he is a younger actor and so much of him is so loud and so b is boisterous, there It might be gratefully annoying, I do not think they have found a really good balance in the interaction of these characters, but let’s talk about this nursing home for a second, because for me that’s the heart and soul of the film and that is probably my favorite aspect of the movie were the parents awarded, namely Cooper Andrews, who felt like the warmest soul on the planet. He was just so energetic and so sympathetic.
Billy had not had it easy in life when he was young to be separated from his mother and never found her again and now he is older and still looking for her. He has gone from nursing home to nursing home in an early scene. We’ve learned that he’s looking for her in a very complex and confusing way that could put him in trouble with the law just because he’s a stupid kid making stupid decisions or because the writers are a fun scene compared to a normal one Looking for someone to look for in our time, but he still lands at This Nursing Home with a few other kids and that’s the best aspect of the movie.
I think that’s the emotional heart and soul of the movie and most of those sequences I thought we were really good with it and that added something to the film that I think the rest of the movie would not be nearly as effective as this is definitely a more old-fashioned approach to superhero movies. It feels more like the kind from a film that might have come out in the ’70s or early ’80s after Christopher Reeve’s excellent first Superman film by Richard Donner came out.
It feels like the movie is very vividly light and you could use the word disposable and some could use that word, but I think in the case of Shazam it’s not necessarily an insult, it just feels like a touch fresh air among many really heavy superhero movies we ‘ve been having problems with the movie lately and most of them are around Mark Strong villain Satya savanna.
This is somebody who has a backstory that they set up pretty well, but then there’s that big gap between us I’ve seen him, and when we see him now, so much has happened to him in that time, and you’ve been expecting that he had the same grudge of the very same thing since childhood and was bitter all his life About this and about his introduction as an adult, this facility is researching where to research this phenomenon that is spreading.
People are talking about the magical magic they all are experiencing, and he’s trying to understand what’s going to happen, so hopefully he can experience it, too, and it’s one of the hokeysten scenes I’ve seen in a superhero movie lately , Now a lot of the film is intentionally very cheesy and so it is quite possible that they will really camp if that’s what they are. They succeeded, but the fact that it is a bit unclear and especially the score that I think it’s a problem because the music tells us in such scenes that it’s supposed to be serious.
Instead of letting us immerse ourselves in a really lively scene, scientists look at those videos in which people say they have one Magician hit, and it’s as if this is a camp that the score does not always tell us about. We also have scenes where Billy Batson is looking for his mother, and it’s sad and you feel bad for him. The shifts in sound between drama and extreme comedy do not always work in this movie In many ways, the film is very self-confident and very satirical in terms of the superhero genre.
You can even look at the scene I just mentioned and say they make fun of the superhero genre I think it’s not as clear as you may know it almost feels like it does these scenes are really about, but there are other scenes that are just funny but the movie is so aware of what it is, to the point where there is even a direct reference to Big in the movie, and I feel like you’ve got scenes like this thrown in with some of those more belligerent scenes that did not.
This is for me and admittedly a very weak villain. I thought the whole movie we got is saved by Zachary Levi’s charismatic performance as well as by Jack Dillon Grazier and a great nursing home story that really gives the movie an emotional weight that would not have existed without me shaving Shazam AB give, guys, thank you as always, that you look forward to furthering reviews very soon.
